Davide Messora and Riccardo Tagliabue are two photographers who have spent many years taking Motocross pictures – but not only – on tracks all over the world. This special project is a mutual dream that came to life a few months ago.

In the early 90s, Riccardo Tagliabue released several books about Motocross and Superbike becoming one of the best photographers worldwide and receiving the Euro Press Photo Awards in 1997. Riccardo also represented Italy at an international photo contest in Istanbul, where he displayed Motocross pictures. That was the very first time a photographer had ever presented such a theme at an international event.

Some years ago, Riccardo decided to quit travelling and take care of his family but remained connected to the motorcycling world by organizing and managing sporting events and also held several roles in FMI (Italian Motorcycling Federation).

Director of X-Inside Magazine and author of books about Supermoto, Davide Messora received the prestigious Youthstream Supermoto Journalist of the Year award in 2009. Linked by a close friendship, Riccardo and Davide decided to dive into this new adventure and publish a book about Motocross in a way that perhaps has never been done before.

The book goes through some of the most beautiful moments of the sport of the latest years courtesy of nowadays managers, who have been great riders of the past. Former racers such as Michele Rinaldi, Pit Beirer, Jean-Michel Bayle, Stefan Everts, Jacky Martens, Jacky Vimond and Joel Smets recollected some moments of their careers and explained what Motocross means to them. From the glories of the past, the book also tells about nowadays-greatest riders like Tony Cairoli, Tim Gajser, Jeffrey Herlings, Romain Febvre and all the other protagonists of this beautiful sport.

Promoter Giuseppe Luongo and part of the International Federation contributed to create this book telling us something about them too.

The next 200 pages (30×31,5cm format) feature amazing color images printed on coated paper (170gr) and a peculiar rubber – coated hardcover.

Through this work (entirely auto-financed, which includes no advertisement), Davide Messora and Riccardo Tagliabue wish to give back something to Motocross, a sport that every weekend rewards them with a lot of emotions. Despite the years going by, they are still thrilled when in front of a fierce battle for the victory and feel the same way through a hand tight or chat with one of these great heroes of our circus.
