Herlings goes for Gold

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herlings and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Thomas Kjer Olsen have a lot to lose this weekend at the final round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross. Herlings with a 12 point lead of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Gautier Paulin in the MX1 class, and Olsen with a six point lead over Brian Bogers in the MX2 class, both have to perform well to take home MX1 and MX2 Dutch championships and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Prize money for the Dutch Masters of Motocross had risen to record highs this year, with  € 147.900 in total, spread between MX1 and MX2.

For every round over € 18.000 was on the line, and paid for the top five in MX1 and MX2. The Champion of the Dutch Masters of Motocross will goes home with a nice sum of € 30.000, and in the MX2 the winner takes € 6.000. While those sums might not be the proportions of some major sports, that thirty thousand is as much as an average yearly wage in Holland, so not a bad prize for a sport like motocross.

With around 220,000 tickets sold for the Zwartecross this weekend (where the final round of the Dutch Motocross of Masters will be run), an annual event run in Holland, and the biggest motorcycle event in the world, you can be sure a lot of new fans will see the battle between the Bullet and Paulin.
