Prado wins MX2 in Assen

Young Spanish rider Jorge Prado of the Red Bull KTM Factory team has won the Grand Prix of Assen, with 2-1 results. Second overall was Pauls Jonass with 1-7 and third Jeremy Seewer with 5-2.

Jorge Prado: It was a good weekend. The weather stayed dry for today and that made it easier. Lets try and do it next weekend. I won Lommel and this on, so two sand races. Yes, it was a close one, the first moto I kept it easy for a second place.  Let Conrad go early, but then I pushed and got the win. I am happy.”

Pauls Jonass: I got a really good first race and wanted to do the second in the second one. I wanted ot get a good start, but I lost my rythem and I wanted to win the title so maybe put too much pressure on myself. We look forward to the next race and see you next weekend. We didn’t lose any points and take it easy this week.

Jeremy Seewer: We could manage bring the championship to the last race. I just try and do my best. I had some good lines and could pass some riders. I am happy to be on the podium here, because I didn’t expect to do well. Its scary with all the concrete and metal and everything. I am going for another GP win in France next week.

The two youngsters, Conrad Mewse and Jorge Prado led the second MX2 moto as title contenders Seewer and Jonass were stuck around sixth and ninth.

After a lap it was Mewse, Prado, Lieber, Vlaanderen, Seewer, Olsen, Bogers, Lawrence, Watson, Jonass, Ostlund, Zaragoza, Van Doninck, Beaton and Covington in 15th place.

While Mewse continued to lead, a bunch of riders were closing up on him, as Prado, Vlaanderen, and Seewer up to fourth and Jonass seventh.

Prado into the lead on lap six, and a bunch of riders right onto Mewse. Covington up to 12th, and Lieber back to ninth. Vlaanderen trying to pass Mewse crashed and lost some places, giving Seewer third, while Jonass was back in seventh.

Prado extended his lead to five seconds, and Jonass was all over Vlaanderen and Bogers, while Seewer was pushing to pass Mewse for second place.

Seewer passed Mewse on lap 12, and moved into second, and looks like the MX2 championship won’t be decided today, but next week in France.

After 11 laps it was Prado, Seewer, Mewse, Olsen, Vlaanderen, Bogers, Jonass, Lawrence, Lieber and Watson in 10th.

Prado was riding smoothly up front and the GP was his as he continued to lead the moto from Seewer and Olsen. Jonass back in seventh goes into France needing just a handful of points.

Seewer all over Prado in the final lap, as the Suzuki rider tries to get the moto win and second place on the podium.

Prado wins it from Seewer and Olsen.
