Cairoli and Formula 1 – More

As we (MXlarge) reported two days ago, the news that MXGP world champion Antonio Cairoli will get to test a Formula One day in the coming months, is very big news. Of course Cairoli is a massive four wheeled fan, and he was presented with a steering wheel of a F1 car from Red Bull boss, Dietrich Mateschitz after his victory last weekend.

Mateschitz mentioned to Cairoli that, “you don’t get to keep it, you get to bring it with you when you come to test our car”. The Italian legend will test the race car of Daniel Ricciardo, or Max Verstappen. Cairoli will join a select group of two wheeled champions who get this opportunity, including Valentino Rossi, Mick Doohan, Max Biaggi, and Barry Sheene to name a few.

Cairoli will experience the thrill of four-wheels after having ridden a MotoGP bike back in 2007, when he was able to ride the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi’s. As his fiance Jill Cox mentioned in our interview yesterday, Cairoli will also be out on four-wheels, as close as November, when he’s set to take part in the South African Rallycross event.
