Interview Tuesday 22th September 2009 By Geoff Meyer

Kevin Strijbos has often been called the most talented rider in the World Motocross Championship. A rider with natural talents for many sports. He has ridden for factory Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda and will in 2010 line up with the BO KTM team, managed by five time World Motocross Champion Georges Jobe.

We gave Kevin a call this morning to find out what is happening and how he feels about his change of teams.

Q: Kevin, KTM in 2010, is that deal totally done?

Strijbos: We have signed an agreement, but are yet to sign the contract. Georges is busy organizing that side of it, the clothing deals and helmets and all that type of thing, then we sign the contract, but it's is more or less a done deal.

Q: Why Georges Jobes team?

Stijbos: Georges is a good guy, I can talk to him no problem. He is something who tells you straight, if there is a problem he won't go around it, he will come to you and let you know what he thinks. Also having the team we have, with Tanel and Anthony, we have a strong team, so practicing will be good, we will be able to check out speed together.

Q: Are you disappointed how it went with Honda?

Stijbos: For sure, am disappointed. I would have liked to have stayed, I liked being in the Martin Honda team. We had a three year contract, and they told me they would know something on August 15, then it was at Lierop, and then September 15, we then decided we needed to sign with Georges, otherwise we would have missed out all together. I am lucky I could find a team in these times.

Q: How is your injury coming on? Strijbos: I still have a cast on, maybe in October I can start riding my bicycle, then maybe in December or January I can start riding my motorbike again. It is a long time to wait, but I will work hard and be ready for 2010.

Q: How about KTM, two or three years ago many would have said you shouldn’t sign with them, what is your opinion of the KTM bikes now?

Strijbos: Sure, two or three years ago I wouldn’t have signed with them; the bikes often broke, or had some type of problem. It was a bad time for them and if you look at the results now, the bike is good. Nagl has been good on it, also Barragan. Cairoli will ride it next year; it’s a good bike now.
