Ken De Dycker - Preparing for 2010 season
Interview Tuesday 26th January 2010 By Geoff Meyer
Q: Ken, what have you been up to?
De Dycker: I spent two weeks in America riding and training with Joel Roelants. The weather was so bad in Belgium it was not possible to ride and I needed time on the bike. I only took my standard bike, the race bike I will ride in Italy just before Mantova.
Q: How did you like riding over there?
De Dycker: The problem in America was I just had my standard bike and the track is not rough at all. They take off all the bumps after each day, and that makes the tracks really, really fast and not enjoyable to ride, at least I don’t like riding on them. You don’t get tired and the speed is really high.
Q: Did you get to a Supercross race to watch?
De Dycker: We went to Anaheim which was a lot of fun, that is really a big event.
Q: What will you do different in 2010 to win that World title?
De Dycker: I have learnt a lot from the mistakes I have made in the past and I am looking at doing my best in 2010. I am not getting any younger and I need to make this year a big year for me.
Q: How about your new Ricci Yamaha team?
De Dycker: Working with Yamaha has really been a good experience. They have won a lot of World Motocross Championships and the team is working really hard to give me what I need. It’s pretty similar to working with the other teams I have worked with in the past, very professional.
Q: What is your plan in the coming weeks?
De Dycker: I will go to Italy for some training, then do Lommel and Mantova I like both those tracks, and while I have had some problems in Mantova with crashes and injury I enjoy riding there. I am looking forward to racing again.
