Jimmy Albertson interview - Hangtown here I come

Interview Wednesday 28th April 2010 By Geoff Meyer

Jimmy Albertson will head back to America to race the opening round of the AMA Nationals. The Martin Honda rider will have a full factory ride for the Hangtown race, which is set for May 23. We caught up with Jimmy and asked him about the trip back home.

Q: Jimmy, so you are racing the opening round of the AMA Nationals?

Albertson: With the USGP coming up I knew we would be back in the states and I figured why not go and race Hangtown to get used to the temperature change, it’s going to be really hot in Southern California and also racing a US National will be cool for me.

Q: How did it come about?

Albertson: My agent got hold of the guys at Honda America and they thought about it for a couple of days and then said we would love to give Jimmy a bike. So I am under the Honda tent for that race. I can’t wait to see all my friends.

Q: You have been racing Motocross now for a couple of months and will obviously have a lot of MX time under your belt by the time you get to Hangtown.

Albertson: I think I will have an advantage because I have been racing already a bunch of rounds of the World Motocross Championship and those guys will be coming off the Supercross season. It’s really tough for those guys to prepare for the Outdoor season after the Supercross series.

Q: What about Glen Helen, how is that going to be for you?

Albertson: I think Glen Helen is going to be a great race and I hope a lot of fans come and cheer me on. I want to get to Glen Helen and have some confidence. That is a really tough circuit to get used to so I hope I can get some good results there and score a lot of points.
