MxLarge Story
Rasmus Jorgensen interview
Interview Thursday 27th May 2010 By Geoff Meyer
MXlarge: Rasmus, can you tell me what happened, how did you get injured?
Jorgensen: I had surgery on my knee and on the way back training and building up my muscles and I was out training and a scooter just hit my on my left side and I straight away I couldn’t feel my left arm at all, then I found out that I have nerve damage. I don’t have any function in my shoulder or muscles and the accident was six months ago, so it takes a long time.
MXlarge: How bad is the injury?
Jorgensen: At first I didn’t it was that bad, but now I can see it is an injury that takes a long time to repair, a broken bone you know it’s good in six or eight weeks, but this isn’t easy. I just have to wait, I try and do everything I can with needles and healing, but the doctors said the nerve has to grow back on the muscles. It will not be 100% again, but hopefully I can come back to near how I was.
MXlarge: You had a great rider in Lommel last year, tell me about your results before the injury?
Jorgensen: Last year I did have some injures, but the best part of the season was Lommel. To get a wildcard ride from Teka Suzuki and be sixth in the GP was the best weekend in my entire life, and things were going good. I had some small injuries, but I was so focused in this season being my best season yet.
MXlarge: Did you have a ride for this year?
Jorgensen: I was talking with GP teams, but I couldn’t find the money for it, so I was going to do the European championship for a Belgian team and go for the European title. The team has supported me a lot and that is really nice. If I do GP or Europeans we have to see.
MXlarge: You must be nervous about the recovery?
Jorgensen: I am really nervous, this is my whole life and I want it so bad. I have worked for this and I can get the feeling on the bike now, a little bit of jumping and I take my time and let it heal and hopefully it will be ok for the future.
