Interview Tuesday 07th September 2010 By Geoff Meyer

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Marvin Musquin has collected his second World Motocross Championship and will now head to America to try and catch the same type of glory. After taking glory in Lierop last weekend the Frenchman is now looking ahead.
Full of confidence and with knowledge that former World Motocross Champions Christophe Pourcel and Tyla Rattray are more than competitive in the American Motocross series many see the KTM rider having a lot of success when he makes the jump to USA.
MXlarge: How different was this year’s win compared to last year’s?
Musquin: Really different. You know last year I changed the team, this year I had a new bike and at the beginning I was really strong and I won a lot of Grand Prix’s. I was really happy about that and this year. It was also different because I had a lot of points on Ken Roczen and I could relax at the end. I won the title with three motos still to go.
MXlarge: When the series started in Bulgaria the pace of the leading riders was just amazing. You, Roczen and Herlings were really impressive. How did you find that first race? Did you get nervous from Ken’s speed?
Musquin: Bulgaria is my favorite track.  I stayed confident and it was my favorite track and it’s the perfect ground for me. Roczen was also really good in Bulgaria, but the Championship is very long and Ken had some bad luck, he lost a lot of points with the engine breaking. But I remember the French Grand Prix and the USGP.
MXlarge: In a couple of weeks you will head to America to race the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations. How excited are you about that?
Musquin: I am excited, we have a good team with Christophe Pourcel on the 450, and he will be really fast. Last year was my first time and for this time in America, to fight with the American riders and maybe even win in America, that is big.
MXlarge: Obviously your biggest challenge will come from Trey Canard. How are you looking at racing him?
Musquin: He is really strong, I saw him Saturday on television and he is strong. I need to be really strong at the des Nations.
MXlarge: The tracks in America are really different to what you are used to racing here. What is your opinion of the American circuits?
Musquin: If I look at the tracks in America, they are flat and not bumpy, they are really fast. Also in that whole championship they only have one sand race (Southwick), so it’s different. We travel to many countries in the World Championship on many tracks. There it’s one country with similar tracks, but I think I will be okay there.
MXlarge: What race was tough for you this year?
Musquin: My difficult race was, I don’t know, Valkenswaard was not good for me after my qualification race crash. Also the other sand races were not good for me this year. I didn’t train in Belgium this winter and I stayed in France maybe that is why.
MXlarge: When you were leading the series with a huge points lead you seemed to slow it down. Ws that difficult to work out which strategy you wanted to use?
Musquin: For sure I wanted to stay on the top speed. I was a little tired in the championship, I don’t know. I wanted to win and I won in Loket and had a good race there. Brazil was good for me but I stayed second. I was maybe a little nervous near the end.
