Brad Anderson interview - Red Bull Pro Nationals Champion

Interview Thursday 21th October 2010 By Geoff Meyer

The 2010 season was a mixed one for the former British Motocross Champion Brad Anderson. He lost his British title, but picked up the Red Bull Pro Nationals title and rode well at this years MxoN, held in Denver in America.
This year’s British MxoN hero is coming into his winter, yet is still undecided about where his future lies in 2011. Australia, America, his domestic series in England or Grand Prix Motocross are all in his mind, although at the moment it’s the domestic series that looks most likely to win out. We caught up with Anderson and asked him about his last couple of months.
MXLarge: Brad, so how’s life?
Anderson: Great, I am just back from carting with Dean Wilson?
MXlarge: Ok, he is still in England. Have you guys build a bit of a friendship?
Anderson: I guess, we get on great and we’ve been hanging out a bit. We did some riding in Scotland and obviously been just hanging out together.
MXlarge: You must have been happy with your MXoN results?
Anderson: You know at first I wasn’t on the team, and then I was and once I was going I wanted to go there and show my speed. Once I got that track dialed in, all those big jumps I enjoyed it. I seem to enjoy riding tracks in America more than I do the track back home in England. The tracks at home at slow corners and the tracks in America are a bit more wide open. I just rode my own pace and we nearly got on the podium, which would have been great. I hope to get picked again next year and get another chance.
MXLarge: What about our Red Bull Pro Nationals win, how did that feel?
Anderson: You are employed by the teams to win Championships so it was nice to get that one. It was a good Championship, well run and it was fun. It’s a good turnout of riders and the tracks are well prepared, and a lot of people came and watched.
MXlarge: What about next year, what are you doing?
Anderson: I still don’t know what I will do. I was talking about going to Australia, but that deal fell through because they were also talking with Rui (Goncalves), I really wanted to race in Australia. I have some teams interested, at the moment it’s looking like I will race the British Championships and Red Bull series. I also want to do some Grand Prix’s and some rounds of the AMA Nationals, the team that lent me a bike for at the MXoN mentioned it might be possible to come back and do some races for them over there, that would be cool. I want to do races that are different and a bit of fun. I think I can do okay in America if I am well prepared and do what is possible.
MXlarge: Is it tough to get a ride?
Anderson: I mean because of the current situation with the economy, teams are trying to pay less, so to get a good deal is tough. I think I am worth what I am asking; we have to wait and see what happens.
MXlarge: What is your opinion on all the AMA guys coming and racing in the Grand Prix’s, people like Townley, Searle and Anstie?
Anderson: I think it’s great; we get to see the speed of those guys against the top GP guys. We know Townley and Searle have been here, but Anstie we don’t really know how he will go. I think it’s great to have these guys in the GP’s.
