Interview Friday 06th May 2011

Brad Anderson is one rider who goes into this weekends second round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals this weekend with some serious confidence. The PAR Honda rider comes off a big month of victories and everyone knows that Anderson thrives on success.

MXlarge: Brad, how are preparations going for Landrake?

BA: “Yeah all good, I’ve just been out doing some running and training this morning and now I’ve got the hoover out!”

MXlarge: That’s pretty hardcore!

BA: (Laughing) “Yeah I know I’m trying to get it done before the missus gets back in, she wrote us a list down of what I had to do so I better get me jobs done!”

MXlarge: Sum up how Round 1 at FatCat went for you.

BA: “Well I’d been struggling with me results, went to FatCat and that was the start of the wins this season. Everything just went to plan, the first race I was taking it a bit easy because I was getting arm pump now and again, I got into a good rhythm, got Martin back on the last lap and won that one. In the second race I come back from about 3rd place, passing Shaun Simpson and Swordy, pulled out a big gap and controlled it from there. Everything just went perfect that day and I was just glad to come away with a win.”

MXLarge: Having scored a first and second there last year are you looking forward to getting down to Landrake?

BA: “Yeah Landrake is a pretty good track. I’ve just come from hardpack training so hopefully we can do the same again, two wins would be nice.”

MXlarge: Do you prefer hardpack over sand?

BA: “No I’m more of a sand rider, but I always seem to go well at Landrake so hopefully, touch wood, I can perform well. I always try to practice on whatever we’re about to race on.”

MXlarge: There’s not too many big jumps at Landrake, it’s pretty fast and flowing, does that suit your riding style?

BA: “I’m not really keen on all these big fancy jumps but Landrake is something I like. There’s a few good technical bits where you can make some time up and fast bits where you have to try and keep it wound on and stuff, like I said before I seem to go pretty well there.”

MXlarge: Who do you see as being your main challenger for the title this year?

BA: “Well it’s stacked out in MX1, to be honest it could be anyone, it could be different people each round. You’ve got Martin Barr, Stephen Sword, Tom Church, Simpson, anyone could at the moment. Saying that I’m the one with two wins and they’ll all be trying to stop us getting any more wins out there!”

MXlarge: How much would it mean to you to retain your Red Bull Pro Nationals MX1 title?

BA: “It would mean a lot for my sponsors, for my team and for myself, to be able to write that down on my CV and to try and make myself better for next year.”

MXlarge: Nice one Brad, thanks for that and we’ll see you Sunday.

BA: “Actually I’ll be down on Friday, there’s a lad I train, Jay Hague (Small Wheel) and he’s doing well so I’ll come and cheer for him on the Saturday and make sure he does a good job as well.”
