Interview Tuesday 28th June 2011 By Geoff Meyer

PAR Honda rider Brad Anderson is very much the man of the moment when it comes to an MX1 rider from Great Britain. Despite not racing the FIM World Motocross Championship the veteran of British Motocross is on fire, easily leading the Maxxis British Motocross Championship and showing what many say is the best speed of his career.

Anderson who has had success on the domestic scene before is looking forward to adding the 2011 British title to his previous glory and you couldn't have a more mentally prepared rider fighting in your corner than Mr. Anderson.

With everything in order Anderson is still hungry for success and that also means getting on the Grand Prix trail and scoring some top ten finishes. We caught up to Brad today and asked him about his Maxxis victory on the weekend and also how his form is at this stage of his career.

MXlarge: Brad, how are you mate?

Anderson: All is good. How you doing, sorry I missed you call yesterday.

MXlarge: Can you explain your first race yesterday?

Anderson: Well, I have never had good luck in Ireland and I wasn't expecting to come away with what I did. I was going in with good speed, because I won the last two rounds. In the first race I was fourth out of the gate and I was battling with Dougan and we went down and we had to get past like seven people. I got Swordy and then had a big crash and then Martin stalled his bike and it gave me like the chance to get back in the lead and then Martin and I had a good battle and I got away with the win. That was my first good win in Ireland really.

MXlarge: How was the second moto?

The second moto was even better, because I was out of the gate second or third and I passed Martin for the lead and I checked out a little bit and then made a silly mistakes coming down a hill and it chucked me around and Kristian Whatley and Martin Barr came around me. I didn't think I was going to catch them, and I didn't see the two lap board and I didn't think I could get Martin. Kristian had crashed and I put my hammer down in that last lap and pushed really hard and eventually I caught him up and passed in on one of the downhills. The crowd was going mad; I don't know where I got the speed from in that last lap.

MXlarge: And then you went all out and won the third moto as well.

Anderson: In the third moto I got the holeshot and controlled the race from there and did nothing stupid, and got three mega wins really. Hopefully my luck has changed in Ireland.

MXlarge: You have really dominated of late haven’t you?

Anderson: I have been on top of it at the moment and I wanted to continue winning race and overalls, but in the last Red Bull Pro Nationals I came off and lost the winning streak, but at least I still got the overall.

MXlarge: I was speaking to Dave Thorpe this week and he felt that Kristian Whatley was actually the fastest guy out there at the moment, but doesn't believe in himself like you do. What is your opinion on Kristian?

Anderson: Kristian is going well at the moment, he has good lines, he is the one to watch in the future. I pretty much controlled the races and won them really. I don't know how Thorpy can say that, because I won the races. I clearly won and was faster. If you are in the lead you don't need to push too hard, but it's who crosses the line first isn't it.

MXlarge: Do you feel you are still underrated by a lot of people?

Anderson: I think there are people, who don't like me, but you just have to get on with it really, maybe they are looking at my age and feel like I am over it, but I think I am just coming into it now. Many people are telling me I look faster than ever and there are a few teams who have offered me a ride for next year. We just have to wait and see what happens really.

MXlarge: Any teams willing to sign you to race the whole Grand Prix series?

Anderson: There are a few people have asked if I want to do the GP's, but I need to look what it is going to cost me to do the GP's and weight up if it's worth it. I mean I can make a good living in England, so I need to make a good living from the GP's, otherwise I will stay in England and race. I mean I already do a lot of miles in England, because I am from the North. I would love to give it one good blast and see if I can get into the top ten. Hopefully some good deals will come up and we can do just that.

MXlarge: Will we see you at a Grand Prix soon?

Anderson: We want to enter for Germany. I mean I wanted to do France, but I thought my boss at PAR put my entry in, but he didn't. It was a bit of a mix-up between us really. And then we tried but it was too late. I hope I can race Germany and try and get a top ten.

MXlarge: Are you a bit upset about missing France, because it would have been a good chance to ride the track before the Motocross of Nations?

Anderson: I am a bit disappointed, but on the other hand some riders hurt themselves at that race and our team is looking seriously at winning the British Championship, so we all look at it like that really. I also put myself in for Valkenswaard, but I think a lot of guys wanted to get into that one, so I missed out.

MXlarge: What about Billy coming back for the British GP and hoping to maybe get into the British team for the MXoN. What is your opinion of that?

Anderson: Well, I get on well with Billy, he is one of my mates, but I don't want to say too much, and see how it goes. I don't think one or two races are going to get him the spot, especially if my form continues the way it is.

MXlarge: With your form at the moment you must be really looking forward to the British GP?

Anderson: Well, like when I was in Ireland the crowd was going crazy for Martin Barr, so hopefully when I get to the GP and do a good ride the crowd will go wild for me and get behind me. I mean I am happy with a top ten. I am going to Germany to show I have the speed and we will play it from there.
