In the MX2 qualification race it was Goncalves who took an early lead from Joel Roelants, Manuel Monni, Ken Roczen and Marcus Schiffer. There was not that many position changes in the race, only Roczen moving into second place on lap eight and moving closer to the leader.

The finishing order was Goncalves, Roczen, Monni, Roelants, Paulin, Schiffer, Aubin, Karro, Guarneri, and Verbruggen in 10th place.

The only major changes were De Dycker passing Coppins on lap six, and Cairoli working his way into fourth place on lap seven, a positions he remained for the rest of the moto.

Nagl won it from De Dycker and Coppins. Nagl mentioned of his plans for the weekend.

"I am not thinking about catching Cairoli for the championship. I am thinking about finishing ahead of Philippaerts and Coppins in the championship points and then we see what happens."
