Rui Goncalves
"Today I had a 1-2 result and that's very good for me and for my team. We won all three classes so it's a great team and a great job. Ken (Roczen) passed me in the first heat and he was very fast so I tried to keep pace with him and be happy with second place. Then I went out and tried to do my best in the second race. I tried to have a good start and to quickly get into my rhythm and that made all the difference. This win has been very good for my confidence because I have had my ups and downs during the season and I've had some very tough moments. Now I am fighting for the title and I will keep giving my best no matter what. I will fight and try to win the championship."
Tony Cairoli
"I had to close the gas at the start of the first moto because I risked a crash. A lot of riders got past me and by the end of the first lap I had a lot of work to do. I did not want to make any mistakes so I looked for the best and easiest places to pass. It was not easy to overtake David and we had a clean and good fight there for a while. I caught up to Desalle in the final laps but for me he is one of the most difficult riders to get by without taking a gamble. A holeshot is always a help so the second moto start was much better. I pushed hard at the beginning as Max kept close but I could control the gap to the end."
Max Nagl
"I had two good starts today and I felt like I was in good control right through the first race. I won it without problems and I did it with a good winning margin. I also had a good start in the second race and even though Cairoli was in front, I managed to keep pace with him and I didn't ever give up. I always had in my mind that I could have a good fight with Toni. That's good for us riders and the competition and it's good for the spectators. Now I know that the championship is not over yet. Ken (de Dyker) for sure will be fast in Lommel and also in Lierop but I also like these tracks and there will be some very good fights. Stefan (Everts, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team manager) has been helping me with the lines because I lost some time on Toni and we will work together on this so I can be strong for Lommel. I am second in the standings now and I know there is a big gap between me and Toni but my goal was to be in the top three. No w I'm not scared to dare to hope to go for the title. I have never been this far in the championship before."
Joel Roelants
"Yesterday was not great in timed and free practice but the qualifying okay and today I rode quite well in the first race. I was third at the start and I ended up fifth. Then I had a bad start in the second race and had to work my way back up from twelfth place. I managed to finish in fourth place. I had a good feeling and there were not so many riders who had lap times like mine. Now things are going better for me and this gives me confidence especially for the next GP in Lommel, which is my home GP. It really gives me good hopes for the next race."
Bryan Mackenzie
“Yesterday’s practice and qualifying was definitely the best ever for me and this helped a lot for today. In the qualifying race I didn’t get the greatest of starts, but somehow managed to get up with some of the faster guys early on and I just tried every lap. It was very hot and the fitness got me through to the end, which was my best qualifying result in 11th. Today was good too. I got a really good start to race one aboard my CRF450R and settled in with the leaders with a good pace in about sixth position. I found my rhythm early on, and had to battle really hard to the flag, pushing the whole way to finish in 10th. In race two I actually got a better start, but then one of the other riders came right across me and nearly cleaned me out, so I dropped back quite a bit. I just struggled to find my lines, never really settled in and this cost a lot of time in the first few laps. I was trying really hard and mid-race I upped my pace to catch some of the guys ahead but I think I was maybe trying a bit too hard and crashed on the last lap, which was very disappointing. I’m pleased with 10th overall though and the improvements we’ve made in recent races, so I’m really looking forward to Lommel now, particularly as I like tracks that rough up. We’ve got a bit of time off over the next few weeks and I’m going back home to Scotland, which is going to be great, as I’ve not had any time there for nearly two months, which will give me time to look at how we can improve things before the next race.”
Davide Guarneri
"I am not so happy because this is my track; slippery, rough and square-edged holes. Yesterday Teillet crossed my line and I crashed hard and injured my shoulder. I thought it might not be possible to ride but I had two injections. The first moto was really hard because the shoulder was cold and stiff but I rode quite well and finished sixth. In the second moto the shoulder was a bit looser and I tried to push but I couldn't really do what I wanted on the bike. In the end the speed was good and I was pleased about that. The championship has become quite open and fortunately I have one month to recover before we go into the sand."
Manuel Monni
"I am quite pleased with the weekend overall. My riding was quite good even if on the last lap of the second moto I made a mistake and missed the chance to take fourth. I am up to eighth in the championship now and I would like to maintain this position at least for the rest of the season and hopefully do better."
Nico Aubin
"In the first moto I started in the middle of the pack and crashed on the first lap. I restarted last and a long way behind everybody. I was making some good times but then ran off the track and decided that my race was finished. In the second moto I again had a crash at the beginning, on the second corner, and lost a lot of time to restart the bike. I was frustrated and attacked the rest of the race to reach 15th. I felt fast this weekend and my feeling on the bike was good I just did not have any luck."
David Philippaerts
"I felt better in the second moto than the first. Earlier on I lost lines easily and generally found the race difficult, my start was also poor. In the second race I was better out of the gate and got into third place right away. I knew De Dycker was getting close to me sometimes but there was no risk of losing the position, especially because at the finish he was probably more tired than me. Physically I feel that I am getting back to normal after my illness last week and this was a consistent result."
Tanel Leok
"My starts were bad and I could not get away with the front guys. My riding and lap-times were also not great and I only felt an improvement towards the end. I lost the chance of better positions just because of those first laps."
Josh Coppins
"I struggled to be honest and my speed wasn't too good. My start was OK in the first race but I just didn't quite have the rhythm and we made a mistake with the tyre choice. Sixth was the best I could do and we weren't fast enough. I had a bit of trouble with the gearbox out of the gate in the second moto and hit neutral. I went up from last to seventh and hit neutral a few more times which was pretty scary so I had to run the race out from there. Overall I did not have the pace today and need to do a bit of work to get back the form that I had last week."
Ken De Dycker
"It was difficult to pass out there. The speed was virtually the same between us all so to overtake would have involved me pushing a rider off-line or doing something aggressive and it wasn't worth the risk to crash. I did not get close enough to Nagl in the first moto and it was pretty much the same in the second with Philippaerts; however I am quite pleased with two results like this. Everybody is so fast that it will be hard to push back into the top three. I have already lost points in the beginning of the season through some mistakes. Now I will just keep on fighting and hope to get stronger for the next races."
Ken Roczen
"I had a big battle with Rui in the first moto which I really enjoyed. Winning my first Grand Prix in Teutschenthal was an awesome feeling but my first moto win feels just as good. I got bumped coming out of the gate in the second moto, but this is part of racing and I just had to ride as hard as I could to come from outside the top-20. I made a big charge and ran out of time to close on the guys at the front. I am really happy with this second place and the way things are going for me this season."
Gareth Swanepoel
‘This is always a difficult track, that I like a lot, but to be honest I had trouble this year to find a good rhythm. In the first race I took a good start, but lost some positions and then stayed in ninth. I made small mistakes late-on and didn’t feel the fastest; I was unhappy to lose one position to Aranda in the last laps. In the second race I didn’t get the best start, outside the top fifteen and the first part of the race was similar to the first moto. Then I found good lines, took more speed, made some really good passes to finish ninth again and eighth overall. I want more of course, I’m now ninth in the standings and we’ll go to a couple of tracks such as Lommel, Loket and Lierop which are good for me. I feel strong and confident for these races, this week I trained but didn’t ride the bike. I think we found the right balance between training and riding. The GPs have a break now. I will do the British series but will also fly back home for one week to see my family and make a short break.’
Gregory Aranda
‘I don’t like this track because it’s always really difficult to pass. I posted some fast laps during the practice sessions on Saturday and I had the fifth gate for the pre-qualifying session. But I missed all my starts this weekend and can’t really explain why. In each race I had to spend a lot of energy to come back in the top ten; at the start of the second race another rider took my front wheel just after the gate and I felt on my right shoulder. I made several laps but it was painful and I stopped. Now I will rest for two weeks in order to be fit for the final round of the French Championship in Iffendic, where we’ll battle with David for the title.’
David Vuillemin
‘Uddevalla is pretty similar to a track we have in South of France, and I like it. My first race was a disaster; I had a bad start, missed a corner and took some green fence in my rear wheel and finally crashed! The second one was much better, I started in twelfth or thirteenth position and I came back to eighth despite some troubles to pass riders such as Léonce. I had Coppins in front of me during the last laps, I reduced the gap to him but he finished two seconds ahead. I was pleased with my riding in the second race. I found new lines and had fun on the bike to get a decent result. We have two more races on hard tracks where a top eight result is possible, then for the sandy races it will be more difficult.’
Gautier Paulin
‘During the first race I was fourth when I crashed pretty hard in a long and sandy corner; I took the inside line but it was slippery and I fell at high speed. I had some pain in my back and neck, but I re-started quickly in ninth place; unfortunately it’s difficult to make the difference on this track, and there are not many spots to pass. I lost some points with my seventh position, maybe a podium was possible in this race. My second start was better, I made some good moves during the first lap and I came to second; then I tried to come-back on Goncalves but I had some troubles with the lappers. The bike was perfect. I had a lot of fun this weekend and due to the fact that Musquin was not racing the championship is closer now. I’m thirteen points behind him, Gonçalves is only ten points from me, and everything is possible with four more races to go. We’ve three weeks to prepare Lommel; I will be ready for it.’
Steven Frossard
’On Saturday I had some trouble during the qualifying race. I crashed at the start with other riders and then crashed again during the Heat. Fourteenth was not such a good position on the gate but twice I had perfect starts in sixth and then third position. In the first moto I came back to third, but the first two riders were far away and I just controlled Monni and Roelants behind me to score my ninth top three result of the season. Once more I was third in the following race. I was not pushing too hard when my right foot went under my rear wheel. Of course it was the ankle that I twisted last week in Latvia and it was so painful that I had to retire. I lost points again for the championship and I’m frustrated as I was fast enough to be on the podium at this GP. I will rest next week to recover from this injury, and then we’ll continue to work In Belgium to be competitive in Lommel.’
Loic Rombaut
"I was unlucky this weekend and it’s a shame as I like the track even if it’s strange when you ride it for the first time. I had a good feeling during the warm-up but my first race was short, as I took a stone to the face during the opening lap. I was slightly concussed and didn’t remember what had happened for a few minutes so I came back to the pits. I try to race the second heat, but I had headache and painful teeth and it was impossible to ride. Now we’ll go back to Belgium and will continue to work on sandy tracks.’
