Red Bull KTM factory rider Shaun Simpson is back in business after having been given the all clear by Doctor Ghyjselings yesterday afternoon to start riding again following the serious leg injury he suffered back in late April as a result of a freak training accident.

Shaun has been working intensively on his physical conditioning in more recent weeks in anticipation of this scheduled check up at the hospital in Eeklo, Belgium. The twenty-one year old World number four and reigning British MX2 champion was obviously delighted at the good news.

"I can't stop smiling," explained Simpson, "As soon as the doctor turned round from looking at the x-rays I could tell it was the news I was wanting to hear. In fact it was better than I actually expected, because I thought he was going to say you can start to ride in two or more weeks time, but instead he said I can ride straight away."

"The plan was to go riding today, but the weather in Belgium has been too wet for that to happen. There is no point in me taking any risks at this point, the conditions need to be right as I want to break back into it gently as I have not been on a motocross bike for nearly three months now." Shaun continued. "In the last week or so I have been doing a bit on my trials bike, but nothing stupid."

"The leg feels great, and touch wood whatever I have tried so far, it has not given me any pain. Obviously it is going to feel strange being back out on the track, and I expect some of my joints are going to be a bit stiff, but I am sure it will not take long to get back in the groove." Simpson enthused.

"It's a long while since I felt this excited about riding a bike, I just need to build things up gradually and to get my career back on track."

Shaun now has just over five weeks to prepare for his comeback meeting, which will be at the Dutch Grand Prix on the 30th of August if all goes to plan. The deep sand at the Lierop circuit will be a good opening test for the young Scot.

After Holland, Simpson then will fly to Brazil for the final GP of 2009 before returning to the UK for the last round of the Maxxis domestic series in late September.

Hopefully Shaun can do enough in these few outings to secure his place in the British MX of Nations squad to make up for the disappointment he has endured most of this season.

"After these main races, I plan to do a few more meetings in October in order to make up for all the riding I have missed this season. So I will stop later than usual for the winter break, before I start work ready for next year." Shaun ended.
