Max Nagl
I am very happy to finish second in the MX1 title," he said. "It's my best career result so far. I had a great start in the first heat but Desalle got past me. He's been very strong lately and I didn't want to make any mistakes that might have spoiled my chances. I only had to go for two more points after my good result in race one. I had a good start again and it was my ain to finish on the podium. This result was even better than I expected but I have a great bike and a great team and that really helps a lot. Now I'll concentrate on the MX of nations coming up soon. We have a very good national team and it's my goal to finish well there."
Steve Ramon
"Today was a little bit difficult for me. I had some problems with arm-pump in the first moto but we made some changes to the set-up before the second race and I took the holeshot and could ride easy. It gave me a great feeling to win again and I am really happy, especially to end the season in this way."
Josh Coppins
"Not too bad today. I had decent starts in both of the races and in the first I worked up from 8th to 5th after it took me a little while to get going. In the second race I was terrible in the first five minutes but then rode my way forwards and passed Ken and Nagl. I knew I had to overtake Clement to make the podium and for my last race with Yamaha I really wanted that, so I was pushing and pushing and gave everything I had but I could not do it. I am disappointed not to get on the box but I think I rode pretty well today. I loved the track and I think they done a great job because it looked un-rideable on Saturday. I think this is the end of my fourteenth GP season so that is nearly 200 GPs and I am still up there with the guys so I am quite happy."
Ken De Dycker
"It wasn't such a good GP and I didn't feel strong enough and could not hold the bike like I wanted. I wasn't so sure of what I could do, so it was difficult to find a rhythm that was good enough. The track was rough and then smooth in places and it was tricky to get some control on the race. I have had a good two years with the team. We have had some decent and some bad races but overall I was really happy being a part of the team and I want to thank everybody for their hard work to support me."
Ken Roczen
"It is great to finish the season with second place and a podium finish, so I am really happy about that. The first race was fun but the second was even better and the most important thing is that it was clean. The crowd were going crazy and it really helped me so I have to thank them. It has been an incredible season for me. I did not expect this. I trained a lot with Xavier and I saw that I was not much slower than him. I hoped for the top-10 and did not race with any pressure. I missed the first four races but still managed to come up to fifth in the championship. I hope to start well in 2010 and stay clear of injury."
Tony Cairoli
"I expected to be able to ride after the surgery but I was not sure of my speed and I was just happy to be here. The championship was already over so I came here to do my best. In the first heat I was pretty quick but got tired after a close battle with Philippaerts. I then made a small crash and lost time to catch the other riders. In the second moto Barragan crashed in front of me and there was nowhere to go. It was amazing with the crowd here and to see so many people coming to watch motocross. I hope we can come back next year. I now want to train as close to normal as I can before the Nations."
David Philippaerts
"I do not know what I can say, I feel very disappointed and angry at the moment. I tried really hard to make two good races and keep third position in the championship but a silly crash in the second race made me lose too much time. I was happy after the first moto. I felt good on the track and rode well to keep close to Desalle. My starts were not the best but I was able to make positions and the speed was good. I just lost concentration on the waves and had to restart the bike. It was not a good way to end the GP. It has been a strange weekend and a long way to come for this."
Tanel Leok
"It was not a good weekend for me. I have such a big headache; it is not normal. I had so much pain in the second moto that I could not ride. I am quite happy with this year. Of course it could have been a bit better and I had some bad luck but I had some good races to remember also."
Davide Guarneri
"My rhythm was good, really good but unfortunately my starts were not! There was only really one line in the first moto but I could come up from 12th to 7th before I had a little crash and from then I could not finish any higher. In the second moto I again came back strong and with no mistakes could reach 4th. The only bad thing about this GP was the distance we had to travel to get here. The track and the people; this was good motocross. I had five really nice years with the team and some good memories to take away."
Loic Larrieu
"It was a good and bad way to finish the season. I rode well in the first moto but had a moment in the second and the cable came loose on the handlebar and I had to stop. It has been a season of ups and downs for me but I have learnt so much and I knew I would have tough moments in my first year."
Nico Aubin
"Last week I crashed hard on my head and had a lot of pain in my neck. I tried in practice and did four or five laps but I could not get good speed on the bike and I would rather not try than just ride around to 15th or DNF. It is disappointing but this year is finished now and I must focus on the Nations. I am happy to have been able to work with Ilario and my mechanic and the team is like a family. Even when I had hard times they were always around me and I appreciated that."
Gareth Swanepoel
“To be honest this GP was not so good, I didn’t felt so well all week long. We travelled here and then waited a lot; I did some physical training but the weather was not good, and I felt a little bit sick this weekend. I didn’t felt 100% today, my goal here was to secure eighth place in the standings and that’s what I did. I know that I didn’t ride so well but I finished eighth in the world and I’m proud of that. With so much rain in the week I was expecting a big muddy race and finally we even saw a little dust for the last race; it couldn’t have been better. Now I will fly back home and prepare for the final round of the British series in two weeks time and later the Motocross of Nations.”
David Vuillemin
“I’m happy with this weekend. I would have been in the top ten of the first race without a problem with my rear brake and later I finished eighth for the last race of my career. My start wasn’t so good but I passed a couple of riders including Leok and Swanepoel, I had a lot of fun there. The track was well prepared, with deep ruts and a nice ground; it’s incredible to see how good the track was despite the heavy rain we had during the week. The organizers did a great job and I’m happy to finish my career here, it was nice to be back for an oversea event where the atmosphere is always different.”
Steven Frossard
“I was surprised to get the pole position this morning during the short practice session, but I had a good feeling here. The track was amazing; I didn’t believe it as we had so much rain during the week. My first start was average and after a few laps I had no more tear-offs for my goggles; it was difficult to pass and when I came to fourth position the leaders were far away. I got a better start in the following race and I came back right behind Musquin; I didn’t pass him but applied pressure and later Roczen joined us and overtook me. I tried everything possible to pass him back during the last laps but he kept the advantage. I finished the race right behind him and I’m happy to secure another podium for the last GP of the season.”
Gautier Paulin
“My first race was good, I got a great start but Roczen made a mistake in front of me and I lost some positions during the first lap. I came back to sixth behind Gonçalves and I couldn’t found a place to pass him but this result was enough to secure third position in the series. The second start was not as good but I was back in fifth place when a technical problem stopped me; I didn’t finished the race but I had a lot of fun on this technical layout for my last race with a 250 four-stroke this season. We will now focus on the 450 that I will ride at the Motocross of Nations and several supercross events; we already did some testing and my goal at the Nations will be to get a team title as I missed the individual one.”
