Cairoli leads KTM to domination in Mantova

News Saturday 06th February 2010 By Geoff Meyer

In muddy and cold conditions Antonio Cairoli gave the KTM 350cc the perfect introduction to the World as he won the MX1 qualification race in Mantova, Italy today. The Red Bull De Carli rider was very consistent and in times practise clocked times three seconds quicker than his rivals.

Early in the MX1 moto it was Kevin Strijbos who led early, followed by Cairoli and Nagl. Cairoli had come from a terrible start to pass half the field in the opening few corners. Once Cairoli took the lead he just took off, winning easily.

American Jimmy Albertson looked strong early, but due to riding a little stiff ended the race in sixth position. Mike Alessi crashed out and failed to finish.

In the MX2 class World MX2 Champion Marvin Musquin proved too strong after a good battle with Ken Roczen and early leader Shaun Simpson.
