Strijbos/Jobe saga - The Final Opinion

News Tuesday 08th March 2010 By Geoff Meyer

Koen Monu is the manager of Kevin Strijbos and is the third man in the Strijbos/Jobe saga. Here is Koen's opinion on what happened and why Strijbos left the Jobe team.

As you know Kevin did have a bad season 2009, 3 times a serious accident and many months out of competition. At the end of September we had meeting with Steven Léthanie and on other with Georges Jobé, Kevin prefers the KTM like Nagl and we signed to BO Team. During the nations there was a press conference and even Heinz Kinigadner explained the mx project of KTM with Jobé, also Barbara Kennedy was in the press room.

The signing fee of the BO agreement was € 66.666,66 (Kevin made the joke that 6666 are the numbers of the devil, he was right) and I sent the invoice at the end of October, until today nothing is paid.

In January Georges traveled with Kevin and his team mate to Dubai because the Sheik need to see the athletes, unfortunately Kevin did see not one Sheik. Georges came with a story of a Danish Mobile phone provider, with a Swiss construction company, a Sheik of Dubai and so on.

Two weeks ago Georges traveled back to Dubai for the final meetings, on Tuesday he called to Kevin there was good news and that everything will be signed before Friday. Last Monday I had a meeting with him , there was no result of his visit in Dubai , he only start calling lot of people to show me how hard he worked on it. We agreed to put the deadline on Tuesday at midday, the same evening I called KTM to ask about their opinion.

Georges asked KTM for a deadline on Wednesday, at that moment we decided to cancel everything.

The week Georges went to Dubai I had an informative meeting with Kay Hennekes (Nestaan) and Jacky Martens, I had to work in advance when Georges don't get results we cannot loose time.

On Thursday last week we did have a second meeting with Jacky and Kay and it was really impressive what and how Jacky and Kay will do for Kevin , Jacky explained everything was possible and me and Kevin we believe in Jacky's words.

On Friday morning there was a phone call from Suzuki that they can do something special for Kevin if he will go to the Beursfoon team, on Saturday we agreed with John Beijer to work together for one year, only if (and we hope not for the riders) there will be a Suzuki factory rider injured Kevin can take his place.
