Suzuki GB PLC/MC Federation bring new people into motocross

News Tuesday 09th March 2010 By Jeff Perrett

Following on from successful Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights and Wakes Colne in 2009 with their motocross try out area Suzuki GB and the MC Federation are happy to announce their partnership for 2010 which will see the Suzuki MX experience at each and every round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals.

Like the Red Bull Pro Nationals themselves, the Suzuki MX experience proved incredibly popular with many of the public who had never attended a motocross event last year until they came to a Red Bull Pro National. At each of the two events that Suzuki attended people of all ages were queuing up to be suited and booted in all the necessary protective equipment for a ride on one of the DR-Z70, DR-Z125, and RM85 models all supplied by Suzuki GB.

Of course, the emphasis is very much on attracting new people into the sport in an attempt to help it grow and become more main stream. With the Red Bull Pro Nationals packaged as a social event to the man and woman in the street MCF Chairman Matt Bates believes it’s essential for other manufactures to follow Suzuki’s lead.

“I’m so pleased Suzuki came along to a couple of our events last year and saw the value of being involved. We had good numbers through the gate last year and I think everyone knows we are trying to raise the profile of motocross and off road riding more than anyone in the UK right now. To now have them as a partner for the whole Red Bull Pro Nationals series is great, hopefully other manufactures will also want to get involved in some shape or form. Having an area at the events for people to learn how to ride a dirt bike first hand in a safe environment with proper qualification can only be a good thing for the sport and the event as a whole. Who knows, we may unearth the next Carl Nunn but even if we don’t it would be great to think a handful of new kids and families will get into the sport off the back of the Suzuki MX experience and I’d like to thank Suzuki for that” believes a delighted Matt.

Suzuki GB marketing manager George Cheeseman is also excited about the year ahead, commenting: “We’re delighted to work in conjunction with the MC Federation to provide our test ride facility at this year’s Red Bull Pro National rounds. With the championship attracting not only hardcore MX fans but fans of sport in general, we feel this offers a great opportunity to spread the word and attract new people to the sport.”
