Australian Supercross changes - Melbourne out

News Friday 18th June 2010

Due to serious issues relating to the uneven surface at Etihad Stadium over the past two weeks, Global Action Sports have been forced to move the Melbourne round of the 2010 Monster Energy Super X Championship.

Global Action Sports had a crisis meeting with Etihad Stadium following the unfortunate incident where an AFL player broke his ankle, which resulted in speculation over the turf, and unfortunately it was mutually agreed that the event could not go ahead in 2010 particularly given the extensive adverse media attention.

Managing Director of Global Action Sports, Michael Porra said "I know this news will be very disappointing for all of our Victorian supercross fans, but we understand the stadium's predicament and have no other option but to move the event as there is no other suitable stadium available.  The scheduled Melbourne race on October 23 will now be hosted in Canberra and Launceston, Tasmania has been added to the series schedule for round three.

Monster Energy Super X series schedule:

  • October 16 Newcastle
  • October 23 Canberra
  • October 30 Launceston
  • November 13 Auckland
  • November 20 Dunedin
  • November 27 Sydney
  • December 04 Brisbane
