Desalle and Roczen rule on Saturday in Latvia
News Saturday 26th June 2010 By Geoff Meyer
The MX2 qualification race started with Marvin Musquin leading the race, although after a lap the Frenchman slid over in a corner and handed the lead to Steven Frossard, with Ken Roczen in third place. Frossard held the lead for seven laps until Roczen powered into the lead and went on to win the moto. Behind him came Frossard, Jeffrey Herlings, Jeremy Van Horebeek and Gautier Paulin in fifth position.
The MX1 qualification race was really exciting as first David Philippaerts led, behind him came Clement Desalle, Evgeny Bobryshev, Antonio Cairoli and Ken De Dycker.
Desalle took the lead on lap two as he passed Philippaerts, Bobryshev also passed the Italian and began to put pressure on the leader.
Desalle continued the lead the race all the way to the chequared flag, while Cairoli passed both Philippaerts and Bobryshev for second place. The final top ten places went to Desalle, Cairoli, Philippaerts, Bobryshev, De Dycker, Ramon Nagl, Boog, Boisserie and Guarneri.
Ken Roczen comments
I think so, the track is so good and I got a good start today and I have a good starting place for tomorrow. I felt good on the track and I gave 100%. I didn’t expect it and I followed him and tried to pass him as quickly as possible. I just try to keep on going like the second race in Germany. I want to keep my speed and not crash. I bike is going good right now, I am always good out of the start now.
Clement Desalle comments
Top five was together and I made a good start, then I passed for the lead after two or three laps and then Antonio came back to me. It’s good to make the pole position, but better to win tomorrow. I think I can do something better tomorrow. I remember last year, I lost the GP because I got passed and I hope tomorrow is different.
