Swords gives CCM victory in England
News Monday 05th July 2010
Stephen Sword took the bit between his teeth at the weekend and reminded everyone why he is holding second place in the British Maxxis MX1 Championship by taking the overall win ahead of current British Maxxis MX1 Champion Brad Anderson.
A dry, overcast and windy day provided excellent conditions for the KWS racing at Landrake over the weekend. Steven Sword of Buildbase CCM Racing, Ben Lamay and Brad Anderson were the three to watch with Stephen taking the holeshot in race 1. Ben Lamay held on to Steve and passed him at three quarter stage with Steve regaining the lead at the next corner. Arm pump hit Steve at the finish allowing Brad Anderson to pass the pair for the win with Steve in second and Ben in third.
Race two and Brad took the holeshot this time with Steve closely behind. The pair pulled away from the pack like a freight train and Steve made his move on Brad in the 14th minute, cleverly riding around the determined Anderson. Steve opened up a 9 second lead to control the race until the end of the 25 minute + 2 lap race showing that his fitness is returning.
A very pleased Stephen Sword commented after the race “ I am so pleased with today’s result, Brad is no slouch round here so to take the second race win from behind and get the overall on the day proves to me that my energy is returning. “
David Thorpe, Buildbase CCM’s Sporting Director said “ all the hard work Steve has put in is beginning to pay off, and we will continue with our schedule in the run up to the next Maxxis round at Foxhills where we hope Steve will be back to his peak fitness.”
Buildbase CCM Racings’ Tom Church will also be back in action this week following an operation on his injured hand. The teams’ schedule includes a mid week race at Ryader this Wednesday night followed by the next red Bull event at Pontrillis at the weekend.
Thorpe further commented “ Tom has been on a bike for just over a week now and the injury is showing no signs of a reaction to his riding, this is good news for both Tom and the Buildbase CCM Racing team and we look forward to fielding our full team from hereon.”
