Red Bull Pro Nationals announce provisional 2011 calendar
News Monday 26th July 2010 By Jeff Perrett
The Red Bull Pro Nationals have been a huge success in the short time they have been running and with a third of their second year remaining they have already grown to a position where the next obvious step is take them a little further afield and into mainland Europe.
It’s becoming increasingly likely that two rounds will head over the English Channel with the possibilities of further expansion into other European countries going forward. The Red Bull Pro Nationals, which will continue to incorporate the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup, will once again be a nine round series that will have two days of racing in their now customary weekend festival feel, the only difference is they’ll be even better in all aspects. They’ll still be the colour, vibrancy and look and feel, like the Jumbo Live feed TV screen, pumping sound systems and FMX shows that make them such sociable weekends, but also expect to see new venues that have yet to be on the tour, more series partners, investment and media as the series takes another big step forward in 2011.
‘It truly is an exciting times for us’, explains series organiser Matt Bates. ‘When we first came up with the Pro Nationals concept I don’t think even we believed how successful it was going to be – it gives me such a good feeling when I see so many new people come and see our sport for the first time, and that has to be our continued goal regardless of the country we stage events in. Red Bull and I also see the need for young talent to get spotted at the right level as well as our top national riders benefiting from the rewards they rightly deserve. But I want to make one thing very clear – the Pro Nationals & Elite Youth Cup are here to stay in the UK’!
It’s exciting times right now at the Red Bull Pro Nationals HQ and hopefully that will have the same effect for British motocross in general. Work has intensified on the plans for the series, not just for next year but also beyond as the series really cements itself within the sport. Planning is now fully underway and will be finalised with series partners, riders, teams and the media over the coming months as the Red Bull Pro Nationals step up another notch in becoming what could arguably be the biggest and best domestic championship in Europe.
