MXoN Jersey Saga – Ten Things
News Tuesday 10th August 2010 By Geoff Meyer
The whole saga of the Italian Motocross of Nations team hasn’t made anyone happy. I can’t imagine one person in the sport who feels like the right thing has been done here. Two of the best rider in the World won’t be at the 2010 Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations because of a despute between the riders Federation and the riders teams.
Jersey Saga – Ten Things The whole saga of the Italian Motocross of Nations team hasn’t made anyone happy. I can’t imagine one person in the sport who feels like the right thing has been done here.

Seems to me the teams deserve a spot on the riders jerseys, and it seems to me that the Federation have made a huge error in not letting that happen. It doesn’t matter why, the jerseys should be changed to suit the teams and not the Federations.
Here are 10 things that should happen with this whole Jersey saga. Obviously some of it is tongue in cheek.
1. Jerseys should have the sponsors on them that support the riders, simple. I mean who pays the bills, who supports the riders to reach their goals and have success.
2. The riders who are going to be picked shouldn’t go. Be it Davide Guarneri, Manuel Monni or whoever, those riders should stand up for their countrymen and not go.
3. Cairoli and Philippaerts should be put into another team, along with anyone else who deserves to go and isn’t. Make it the World GP team or something. Give the yanks something to worry about.
4. The Italian Federation should be stripped of any right to make this type of decision again, or at least ban them for trying to wreck the biggest event of the year.
5. Cairoli and Philippaerts along with KTM and Yamaha should think twice about supporting the Italian Federation races.
6. A march through the streets of Italy should be organized to call for justice.
7. Philippaerts and Cairoli should ride for Belgium, they live there anyway.
8. A firing squad should be assembled in Italy and the persons who decided to leave Cairoli and Philippaerts out of the team should be shot at short range.
9. A large container box from the 2007 MXoN should be shipped to Italy loaded with cheese, spaghetti and poison.
10. We should all wake up and this is just a terrible nightmare.
