KTM with a live link to Roger De Coster held a press conference at the Grand Prix of Netherlands today. De Coster and KTM made the official announcement that the two will team up to lead KTM into the American market.

Rumors of Ken Roczen, Ryan Dungey, Christophe Pourcel and Chad Reed racing for KTM in 2011 were not on the agenda, and the mystery of who will race for KTM in 2011 in USA is still just that, a mystery.

Here are comments from Pit Beirer, Stefan Pierer and Roger De Coster

Pit Beirer comments

I would really like to thank our team and Stefan; we have the first MX title in house. We proved that when Stefan came over to us that we are able to reach our dream. This European structure in place, and now with our new 350 bike we have the MX1 title in house.

Stefan Pierer comments

Good morning, before I announce, I want to mention Antonio Cairoli, congratulations. I want to thank Antonio. Heinz (Kinigadner) was our first World Champion. I want to thank Pit and Stefan. Meanwhile we are the benchmark in Europe, but now we want to do that also in America. I am so happy to announce that Roger De Coster is joining KTM. Roger is a proven man in this sport. We have a chance to talk to Roger a little bit.

Regarding riders, we have Antonio and Max in MX1 the two best riders, in MX2 we will have Jeffrey (Herlings) coming back from injury and when Marvin goes to the states he has the chance to work with Roger and we will see about the other riders.

Roger De Coster comments

It is a big decision and a difficult one to make. After 25 years as a rider and team manager with Suzuki, it wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe KTM is a team that is really good for the future of racing. The reason I couldn’t get an agreement with Suzuki is I wanted more than one year and I couldn’t get that with Suzuki, but KTM are very committed about the future and I believe that we are heading through tough times and we need to look forward and work hard and things will turn around. KTM have that motivation and that interest and there is a lot of energy there and with what Stefan has accomplished, I think we should be able to do that also in America. It’s a big challenge, but it makes me feel good and it motivates me. I look forward to working together in October.
