Red Bull Pro Nationals - Foxhills and Rain

News Tuesday 07th September 2010 By Jeff Perrett

The 2010 Red Bull Pro Nationals has been, for the best part blessed with good weather and little rain but that changed for the penultimate round at the iconic Foxhill Moto Park near Swindon.

The venue didn’t quite resemble the almost apocalyptic scenes that lost its status as a GP circuit all those years ago after torrential rain but it certainly was a tough weekend for the Red Bull Pro Nationals, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup riders.

With the rain refusing to shift on Sunday morning and the wind swilling around it put pay to any real Live FMX Tour ‘show’ as Frederick ‘Frog’ Berggren and Kris Brock didn’t feel comfortable enough to perform, especially after Chris Brock’s over jump last time out at Canada Heights that resulted in a broken wrist. Nonetheless the strong crowd, considering the weather, were entertained with some great racing, the Suzuki MX Experience and a healthy trade village.

The second Red Bull Pro Nationals moto was a classic as Brad Anderson and Jason Dougan took lumps out of each other and had the crowd that were sat in the deckchairs up on their feet applauding with everyone else. Anderson was even considering not going out in the second moto after he clinched the 2010 Red Bull Pro Nationals MX1 title in the first race. He’s now looking favourite for a spot on the British Motocross of Nations team and didn’t want to risk injury but he was glad he raced and so was everyone else – well apart from Dougan!

With titles still to be decided in most of the other classes the final round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Wakes Colne, Colchester, on the 18/19th September is going to be belter. If it’s half as good as last year’s final round we’re in for a brilliant championship send off before this series goes up another considerable level for 2010. Exciting times – good times for the championship that’s changing the face of British motocross.
