Motocross e-magazine - A Year Ago
News Monday 18th December 2011 By Geoff Meyer
We presented our first issue of Motocross e-magazine 12 months ago this week and after the first 12 months the interest has been huge. Obviously the undertaking of making such an online magazine isn’t easy and I want to thank a few people who really inspired me and helped produce what I believe will become one of the biggest Motocross magazines in the World.
With internet slowly taking over from print magazines and the interest in Motocross growing I just knew it was time to start something a little special and I have to say I am stoked with this first Motocross Illustrated.
The design of the magazine is just huge and I have to thank Ian Roxburgh for his amazing talent. Working with Ian on this project has been fun and hopefully our working relationship will grow and more amazing magazines and projects will come from this.
The majority of images come from the camera of British photographer Ray Archer. I’ve know Ray now for nearly 20 years and Ray was more or less the role model for most Grand Prix photographers in the 1990’s and still some 20 years later. While Ray is a great photographer his biggest attribute is his work ethic. Nobody works harder than Archer in the sport and I thank him for his support.
We also have South African Tinus Nel, the guy who helped riders like Tyla Rattray, Tanel Leok, Ben Townley, Gareth Swanepoel and many more get to the World scene. Tinus has one of the best eyes for talent in the sport and will let us know his thoughts ever month.
British fan/journalist/free spirit David Bulmer is just a guy from the street, well actually he now works for Vurb website in America and his writing skills are first class. He also spend a big load of money travelling to the races, his passion for the sport is impressive.
Of course Antonio Cairoli and Dave Thorpe have been a big help with their regular columns. Two of the true legends of the sport and a pleasure working with both.
Last but not least I want to thank my father for his positive nature, the love he showed for his kids and the memories he gave us at the races. Without his positive personality and words of advice as a 17 year old I am sure I wouldn’t have been able to achieve many of the things I have done as a person, both in my work and as a father to my kids.
Take a look back to December of 2010 and the first issue of Motocross Illustrated.
