Anstie struggles in Anaheim I - 16th Overall

News Wednesday 10th January 2012

In the first round of the AMA Supercross Lites West at Anaheim and in front of a completely full Angel Stadium, Max Anstie, the top rider of the HONDA GARIBOLDI-ESTA had an unlucky start of the season with a soft crash in the Main Event after a great start of the day.

Anstie scored a 4th best laptime in his Lites Qualifying group, very close to the top US riders and went seventh at the starting gate of the Lites Heat 1 where he rode a very good race finishing 8th and he qualified easily for the Main event.

In the Main Event Anstie took a great start from the outside gate taking the turn in 6th place and could handle a couple of laps in 7th position after making a small mistake and crashing. Starting from last place Anstie, with a damaged clutch lever, could only finish 16th overall taking his first 5 points in the AMA Supercross Lites West. Max showed a good speed all along the sessions of the day on his extremely fast CRF250R and needs only a bit of luck to score a top result.

"I'm sorry for the mistake in the Main event but now I'm sure that on this bike I can start."in front and, this is good for the next races", commented Max after the race.
