News Friday 19th January 2012 By Geoff Meyer
British veteran rider Adam Fry will be doing his best to compete with the best MX3 and Veteran riders in the World in 2012. Having finished the 2011 season with a broken ankle he knows the pains of the sport. With a positive attitude and huge motivation Fry isn’t just looking at being a number when the GP season starts in April.
Q: What can you tell people about your career until now?
Fry: I started when I was 12 riding Corsham schoolboys and Ringwood and Somerset schoolboy club. I went adult in 1979 rode for many local dealers winning several races 82 I did the British Championships for fowlers on the 480 Honda ended in a badly broken leg
Q: What are your plans for 2012?
Fry: We are aiming to have a better year as I broke my ankle badly in Valkenswaard we are competing in the world vets race at Matterly Basin and the MX3 GP series .also competing locally when possible we have also entered the British veterans championship.
Q: How important is it to race on the continent for you?
Fry: I like the whole Grand Prix experience, it is nice to be involved in something like this and as I get closer to retirement I can honestly say I did GP’s.
Q: What makes Motocross interesting to you?
Fry: It is in my blood and there are good times and bad times but above all you must enjoy racing and focus on what is important and that’s being competitive and stay focused.
Q: How have you prepared for 2012?
Fry: I have been doing fitness since November have stayed off bike as I am trying to strengthen the ankle which was badly broken last year I am focused on what is important there are always people who run you down but this year we have a small but high quality team we are focused on being successful for ourselves and our sponsors, without them we could not compete at this level.
Q: What chances do you give yourself in MX3?
Fry: Obviously this is going to be a hard series as there are many ex MX1 and MX2 Grand Prix riders, but we are hoping to qualify well and give it our best shot hopefully top 20 would be achievable we remain positive.
