Jonathan is currently second in standings 13 points behind championship leader Alvaro Lozano.

The eight-round Spanish MX Elite is exactly at the halfway point with the results of Alhama de Murcia in the books.
The hard pack 'Las Salinas' circuit in Murcia basked in glorious sunshine for the 4th round of the Spanish MX Elite championship.

Barragan qualified third after Butron and Joan Cortes. Apart from the physical demands posed by the hot temperatures, the track cooked up some tricky challenges as well with deep ruts and treacherous bumps.

The Honda CRF450R mounted Barragan had a good jump from the gate and rode to victory in the opening sprint. Butron and Barragan remained close for most of the race. However just after 10 laps Jonathan took command of the race after Butron had made a mistake.

At the finish The LS Honda Racing held a 6 second margin over his compatriot. In the second moto "JB7 ' had another great start, still Butron managed to squeeze ahead early on.

The KTM rider woudl lead from start to finsh and resisted the pressure from Barragan for all nineteen laps of the race. The difference between the two adversaries was just 2.6 seconds after an exciting second moto!

Jonathan Barragan: "It was very hot in Murcia, I had two great starts and managed to win the first race. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to pass Jose Antonio in the second moto. Yet it was a great test for the next couple of GP’s. I felt quite comfortable on the bike and our problems with the suspension are luckily behind us now. I feel ready for the Grand Prix of Mexico. Now it's up to me to put the final pieces of the puzzle together in the two important Grand Prix ahead of us.”
