Back in Time - Pourcel brothers dominate Saturday in Bulgaria

News Tuesday 16th January 2012 By Geoff Meyer

Sebastien and Christophe Pourcel showed that there is nothing wrong with their speed as they dominated their respective classes in Sevlievo, Bulgaria back in 2007. Sebastien Pourcel finished top rider in the MX1 class. Christophe won his qualification moto in the MX2, with Antonio Cairoli winning the second MX2 qualifier. The weather was mixed in Sevlievo with warm conditions early and then rain and colder conditions in...

MX1 pole sitter Seb Pourcel comments

"It's great for pole position here. We still see tomorrow, I would like to win, but I know it's hard to win, there are two races and if tomorrow the weather is the same as today, it will be hard, I mean sunny weather.  It's difficult for everybody in the warm weather. It's not so different racing in the MX1 class, I mean it's up hill and down hill."

MX2 moto one winner Christophe Pourcel comments

"It was a good day, my brother did a pole position and I got the sunny race and a win. I think for me it's better if it is dry, because I don't have a good feeling in the wet with the bike. Maybe I am not tired at the end of my heat if Antonio is not in my heat. I have a good feeling and I found some lines and it was okay. They just fixed the track with a little sand, it is better for me as there are more lines. I am at the first gate I want to get the holeshot and ride better than last weekend. I have to push really hard but it is okay I can get it. Its good to have a rider faster than you. Here it is really a big advantage, it's much better on the inside."

MX2 moto two winner Antonio Cairoli comments

"For sure I expect him to be fast tomorrow, and everytime we have a good race. It's true he will fight tomorrow. This was good, tomorrow we might get rain or hard. Riding in the rain was difficult, very slippery. I didn't expect to have a wet qualification race."

American rider Sean Hamblin comments

"I mean coming into the GP scene I knew it would be tough and some things have surprised me. I have not put in the results I expected since being here. I have a good team who supply me with what I need. My riding is getting better and getting to where it should be. I had a good qualifier in Japan, but also here. I have a little injury and I rode through that okay here. We have one of the best bikes out there and the team deserves good results. It's going good, it's a big learning curve coming to europe and you have to do it the right way. I think the level here is tougher than in America and the system here is also better. Everyone here is quick all the way through the field. But I feel like apart from Cairoli and Pourcel everyone is the same level."
