Pocock Still The Man in UEM EMX250 - Russian GP
News Monday 23th July 2012
The sun was finally out to host the second race of the UEM EMX250 class in the spectacular track of Semigorje, Russia. With more than 45000 spectators Mel Pocock did an incredible race and went out with the overall victory, while Stefan Olsen and Mike Kras were second and third respectively.
Monster Energy Yamaha’s Mel Pocock had a difficult race yesterday, but he was able to overtake Stefan Olsen in the last few meters of the race. Today it was a complete different story and the Brit managed to take the holeshot and crossed the finish line with more than eight seconds advantage over Olsen. Pocock keeps on leading the championship with twenty points advantage over Olsen.
Jtech Racing’s Stefan Olsen did an incredible race yesterday, taking the holeshot and leading the race until the last lap. Unfortunately, Olsen crashed together with Pocock in the last lap and the British rider was faster than him to restart the bike, so Olsen had to settle down with the second place. This morning the Danish rider had a really good start again, but he could not catch Pocock and crossed the finish line second.
Third overall of the Russian round was Mike Kras, who has moved from fifth to third in the point standings after his performance this weekend. The Belgian rider was third yesterday and today he gave his best to finish second, but he admitted that he had some visibility problems with some sweat getting into his goggles, so he had to settle down with the third position.
Alessandro Battig had a really good race yesterday and he was able to finish fourth, but today the Italian struggled a bit more and he could only finish seventh. In the end Battig was fourth overall and he moved from fifteenth to ninth in the point standings.
Brian Bogers was fifth overall after finishing fifth yesterday and sixth this morning. The Dutch rider is now seventh in the championship just three points behind Desprey.
Home rider Vsevolod Brevers was sixth overall, followed by Ludovic Brevers and Maxim Nazarov, and Jeremy Seewer and Maxime Desprey completed the top ten.
