Grand Prix of Germany - What will we see in MX1

News Monday 13th August 2012 By Geoff Meyer

With the news that Ken Roczen will race the 450cc machine at the Grand Prix of Germany I got to thinking. Is it also possible we see Tommy Searle and Jeffrey Herlings take a dip into the MX1 class in September. With the Motocross of Nations a week later, the MX2 Championship probably already settled by then it would be a great chance for Searle and Herlings to prepare on the 450.

Searle and Herlings were two of the stars of the 2011 Motocross of Nations and I would be willing to bet both are thinking about the 450cc rider in Germany. There is talk that Max Anstie will ride the MXoN for Team Great Britain on a 450, so he might also race Germany in the MX1 class, or how about Arnaud Tonus.

Team USA will be coming to Europe early to prepare for the MXoN in Lommel, I can't see them heading to Germany, instead basing themselves in Belgium or Holland getting their sand riding skills honed.

There is also talk that Team Puerto Rico are looking at possibly running James Stewart, Mike Alessi and Eli Tomac, now that would be something if that came about. Another Team USA, it's what we have all dreamt and there would also be some personal motivation from Stewart and Alessi who have not be included in Team USA. Of course Team Puerto Rico have often taken names like Jimmy Albertson and Zach Osborne, so why not take from the very top of the USA left-overs.

Whatever happens the Grand Prix of Germany might have more than the odd surprise.
