With his home base being Belgium, the 22-year-old opted to spend his rehabilitation time in Europe. Ferris was able to use this time to relax, get healthy and check out some of the venues he will be returning to next year.
Ferris revealed this week that he’s signed to return to the world championship next year, with an announcement imminent to confirm both the team and category he’ll be riding in 2013.
“I’ll be racing the GPs again,” said Ferris. “I only had a year-long contract with ICE1RACING and we’ve parted ways. It’s a shame after having such a good start to the championship and proving I can run the pace of DeSalle and Evgeny Bobryshev, but that’s the way it goes.
“I actually accepted a new deal on Monday but I can’t say who it’s with before a proper press release comes out.”
The Queensland native is excited about his 2013 deal and will remain based in Belgium for the upcoming season.
“I’m really excited and I can say it’s a great opportunity with one of the best bikes in the class, and it’s a move that will surprise a lot of people,” he added. “I’ll remain based in Belgium, and my goals are to remain injury-free and to ride to my potential in 2013.”
