Honda competes in the 2013 Dakar Rally

Honda has announced that it will participate in the motorcycle class in the Dakar Rally to be held in January 2013 in South America, with three riders in its works team “TEAM HRC.” Honda previously announced its participation with five riders in October.

However, Felipe Zanol (Brazil) and Sam Sunderland (United Kingdom) crashed and were injured while pre-Dakar tests that were carried out in Mojave Desert in the United States in early December. As a result of their injuries, both riders will not be able to attend the 2013 competition. TEAM HRC will compete with three riders, Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Javier Pizzolito (Argentina) and Johnny Campbell (USA).

Felipe Zanol and Sam Sunderland have been part of the program since the foundation of TEAM HRC and have participated in all testing and the Morocco Rally. They both gave us valuable advice on how to improve the competition machine. Unfortunately, they will miss the final event but I believe they are still part of the team. As our team ethic is a big part of our strength, we will continue with our goal of winning the Dakar.

Roczen and Villopoto win

With a record event attendance of nearly 25,000 fans, the 45th running of the Red Bull Hangtown Motocross Classic proved to be one for the history books as the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, kicked off in Sacramento, Calif. on Saturday.

Nagl and Coldenhoff win in Saturday - Brazil

The weather forecast was not really favourable for today’s qualifying races, but it did not stop the thousands fans to come to the wonderful facilities of Beto Carrero to see the MX1 and MX2 qualifying races. In the end the rain did not arrived until the end of the MX2 qualifying race, so the MX1 riders had a more challenging qualifying heat, as the ground was becoming very slippery by the middle of the race.

Another great gopro video from vurbmoto of another GP circuit. This time its Brazil and Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff during Saturday morning practice. Its a really beautiful circuit and no doubt the riders are going to enjoy the whole experience.

A Motocross Weekend - Brilliance

What a weekend we have, with a feast of Motocross around the World. FIM World Motocross Championships, AMA Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, Red Bull Pro Nationals. I have to admit, despite watching Motocross since the age of 10 years old, and having nearly 42 years experience enjoying the sport, 25 of those as a media guy in Australia and then in Europe, I am super pumped for this weekend.

Todd Waters injured - 50/50 to race in OZ
