Reed, who made his return from injury at the Monster Energy Cup in October, also contested three rounds of the Australian Supercross Championships in preparation for the start of the 2013 season.
This season will be the Australian’s eleventh in the coveted AMA Supercross Series. Over the past decade, Reed has amassed 47 race wins, two FIM World Supercross Championships, two AMA Supercross Championships and an AMA East Coast Lites Championship.
The Honda rider will be aiming for his seventh win at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium and said he felt his team was fully prepared for grueling 17 round season. “The knee is good,” Reed explained. “The time off the bike gave me a great opportunity to spend time with the team and strengthen our inner workings.
“We are a better race team now, I am excited for the new season and I feel like we are really ready to go. “Right after the Monster Energy Cup I went to Australia and did three races down there, then came back and spent the past two months preparing for this weekend,” Reed continued. “I am not here to make up the numbers. I wake up in the morning and still feel like I can win and to be truthful I know I can still win, that is why I am here.
“We are set for a long season and I am ready to get on the grind. I want to be there for all 17 races, not like last year which started off so positive, but then right when the season was getting into its stride I crashed. It was a bummer not only for me but also for the series.
“I need to start the season consistently and have to be there every weekend. You have to be in it to win it,” Reed concluded. The opening round of the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship will be held at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on Saturday 5th January (Sunday 6th January AEST).
