MX2 Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tyla Rattray came back to action in style at Valkenswaard; after Loket’s knock out in 2007, the South African showed up at round one in superb shape.
Winning Saturday’s qualifying heat alongside his team mate and 2007 runner up Tommy Searle, Rattray took the victory in both moto’s to lead the overall standings with 50 points.
Defending MX2 World Champion Tony Cairoli of Yamaha Red Bull De Carli settled for a safe second place on the podium ahead of home rider and sand master Erik Eggens, riding for Beursfoon Suzuki.
At Valkenswaard young guns and Champ KTM Team mates Joel Roelants and Jeremy van Horebeek took good starts to the heats, leading for four and three laps respectively, but in the long run they could not keep up with lap record setter Rattray.
Also Searle lead for three laps but crashed in both moto’s. KTM was the winner of GP number one.

WHAT’S NEXT The second round of the series will take place in beautiful Bellpuig, in Spain, on the 20th of April. Last year the venue hosted a very muddy race with victories of Coppins (MX1) and Cairoli (MX2). Spain will also see the first of the three rounds of the FIM Veterans’ Motocross World Cup.
