MX1 and MX2 Lovemytime statistics - After Mallory Park

Press release Tuesday 10th June 2008 By Daniele Rizzi

After round six of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Mallory Park, Great Britain, on June 1, here are the updated season statistics. AXO KTM Silver Action’s Jonathan Barragan took a superb maiden GP victory at Mallory Park, handing KTM their second heat win of the season and becoming the sixth different winner of 2008.

GPKR’s Sebastien Pourcel started from pole position for the fourth time and he is currently topping the Lovemytime Pole Position Award standings with a safe cushion from the other two polemen of the season, Ken de Dycker and Marc de Reuver, both having taken one Lovemytime Pole Position Award each.

Winning the opening heat at Mallory, Teka Suzuki WMX1’s De Dycker came back to the podium with second while Yamaha Monster Motocross’ David Philippaerts completed the rostrum, taking his fifth top three finish of 2008.

The Italian’s consistency made the red plate stay on the number 19 factory Yamaha for the fourth consecutive time since Portugal. In Great Britain Teka Suzuki WMX1’s Steve Ramon, the 2007 MX1 World Champion, was spotted at the lead of heat one for eight laps, until team mate De Dycker moved past to win the race.

Other than Barragan, also De Dycker and De Reuver led for at least one lap. MX1-GP OF GREAT BRITAIN RESULTS Jonathan Barragan Ken de Dycker David Philippaerts Steve Ramon Tanel Leok

Taking his third Grand Prix win of the season at Mallory Park, Yamaha Red Bull De Carli’s Tony Cairoli rounded off a fantastic weekend by snatching also the red plate. The flamboyant Sicilian won his fourth Lovemytime Qualifying Award and he is now level in points with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tyla Rattray in the Lovemytime points standings.

The South African was the winner of the opening moto but was caught in a tangle during the second heat and that cost him the overall win. Rattray was an eventual second, taking his fifth season’s podium but losing the red plate.

Both Cairoli and Rattray took two dominant heat wins as they led all 19 laps of each moto they won. Winning his third Lovemytime Qualifying Award on Saturday, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tommy Searle was third on the podium of his home GP.

Each time Cairoli won (Agueda, Mantova and Mallory Park) the podium was always completed by Rattray and Searle, as the trio is now pulling away from the rest of the field in the points standings.
