Grand Prix Motocross - Lovemytime season statistics

Press release Friday 29th August 2008 By Daniele Rizzi

After round 12 of the FIM Motocross World Championship, the Grand Prix of Czech Republic at Loket on August 10, here are the updated season statistics. CAS Honda’s Billy Mackenzie took his second career and first season’s pole in Loket but a first moto crash hampered his Czech weekend.

On the other hand it was a great weekend for Yamaha Monster Motocross’ David Philippaerts, taking one heat win and the Grand Prix overall win. The red plate was just the icing on the cake for the Italian who found himself back on top of the MX1 standings after Teka Suzuki WMX1’s Steve Ramon snatched the lead in Lommel.

Sebastien Pourcel of GPKR, to ride the remaining three GP’s with the new fuel injection KX450F, also remembers Loket with pleasure as the Frenchman made his podium comeback with second overall.

After winning three GP’s in a row AXO KTM Silver Action’s Jonathan Barragan tried to go for the fourth one but he only managed to lead for 10 laps. He took third overall and recorded his seventh season’s podium eventually.

Adding another moto win by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Max Nagl to its tally the Austrian manufacturer is on top of the manufacturers’ heat wins standings with seven victories.

Taking his seventh Lovemytime Qualifying Award in Loket Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tyla Rattray is reaching injured Tony Cairoli who still stands on top with eight wins. On the other hand Rattray’s team mate Rui Goncalves took his first season’s qualifying win in Loket.

Again the orange machinery starred in both GP heats with Rattray opening the event with victory in heat one and team mate Tommy Searle taking the final heat and the overall after a dogfight with the South African.

The Brit took his fourth GP win of the year but could not close in on Rattray in the points standings where Tyla sits first. Courtesy of his tenth podium in Loket Rattray kept his 20 point advantage from Searle as the duo were joined on the rostrum by KTM HDI MX’s Anthony Boissiere, who took another third overall after handing Goldentyre their first top three finish in St. Jean d’Angely.
