HM Plant support Weston Beach Race

Press release Friday 26th September 2008 By Jenni Dick

RHL Activities are pleased to announce that HM Plant will sponsor this year's Weston Beach Race, which is being held on the 11th and 12th October. This is an exciting new partnership that unites HM Plant's enthusiasm for motorsport with the construction industry. The heavy machinery specialists will be providing the necessary equipment required to construct the Weston Beach Race course.

HM Plant has had involvement in all kinds of motorcycle racing previously, most famously with Ducati in the World Superbike Championship, that led to both Neil Hodgson and James Toseland winning World Superbike Championships and two-time British Championship winners HM Plant Honda.

The company is also involved with motocross at both British and Grand Prix Championship level with the factory-backed Honda teams. HM Plant is the leading European distributor of Hitachi construction equipment and has a network of depots that respond rapidly and appropriately to fulfill its aims of efficiently servicing all of its customers' needs.

The Newcastle-based company also distributes Metalogenia bucket teeth to the construction industry and celebrates strong partnerships with Isuzu and Honda Racing in the UK. Chairman of HM Plant Ltd John Jones said:

"HM Plant is proud to be involved with The Weston Beach Race, which is the biggest and most significant event of its type in Britain. We are the number one company that supplies excavators in the UK, so we pride ourselves in being associated with the very best through our sponsorship deals. In our marketing strategy we are always looking for unusual events to be involved with, and I am excited about our new partnership with RHL Activities for this very special race."

Track specialist Justin Barclay will oversee the construction of the Weston Beach Race circuit, which will take nearly a week to complete. Justin has had experience with many of the major tracks in the UK, as well as with Grand Prix events in South Africa and Ireland.

His aim is to design a technically demanding course that looks at reducing the bottlenecks and traffic jams that often occur in the opening parts of the race. Vast amounts of sand will be moved around the shoreline in the lead up to the annual event, and HM Plant's machinery will be responsible for completing this task.

Director of RHL Activities Gareth Hockey said:

"This is an exciting new partnership for RHL Activities. HM Plant has been widely associated with some of the best two-wheeled motorsport teams and riders in the world, and we welcome the company's enthusiasm for the Weston Beach Race. Obviously we rely on the use of heavy machinery for the construction of the dunes that make up our demanding course, and HM Plant's equipment will play a vital role in this year's race. I look forward to establishing a strong collaboration with HM Plant and to another successful Weston Beach event."
