Desalle takes Mons International by storm!

Local hero Clément Desalle again beat the established MX1 stars at the Belgian International in Mons. The spectacular LS Motors-Honda rider collected a win in the first race ahead of Honda’s factory pairing Strijbos and De Reuver. Desalle crashed in the second heat while leading the race, but quickly managed to pass Manuel Priem and De Reuver to capture third.

Desalle gave his home crowd something to cheer about when he caught up with Strijbos. The 19-year old passed Strijbos and pushed on for the lead, but his attempts stranded at Barragan’s rear wheel.

The tight and twisty sand track of Mons doesn’t favour the MX2 machniery in a combined race, so it was always clear that Dennis Verbruggen was in for a tough race. Particularly when he struggled to get a good jump from the gate twice.

Dennis finished 10th and 11th overall in Mons .

I’m really happy with my victory today. I had strong starts in both races and that’s absolutely vital here. After two corners I grabbed the lead in the opening race and I never looked back. Of course I knew I had Kevin Strijbos behind me, but I never felt any pressure and it was easy to control the race. I was a couple of laps behind Barragan in the second, and right after I had passed him I went down! I lost valuable time, but I was quickly climbing up from fifth to the lead again. Unfortunately time ran out and Jonathan (Barragan) resisted till the end.

With Valkenswaard at the back of our mind we used this race to get some good sand settings. I had bad starts in both races, so that’s when you know you’re going to be in trouble in Mons! It took me a while to set up my rhythm in heat one, luckily my riding improved for the second heat and I came tenth after a long comeback. I had a good feeling today, so that was important to get my confidence back up for Valkenswaard.

Nagl and Roczen to touch base this weekend at German GP

The FIM Motocross World Championship continues after a week break and round nine of 15 will be at Teutschenthal, Germany, this weekend. Swanepoel talks about victory - British Championship

Kawasaki factory rider Gareth Swanepoel dominated the latest round of the British MX1 Championship, going 1-1 in front of series leader Anderson and defending champion Billy Mackenzie. Mackenzie picks up podium at Hawkstone Park

De Dycker wins in Kester - Belgium Championship

Ken De Dycker (Teka-Suzuki) took his second overall victory in the 2009 Belgian Motocross championship today. In changing weather conditions and in front of 5.000 spectators De Dycker scored two heat wins, and a second behind Clément Desalle (LS Motors-Honda) . Josh Coppins (Monster Energy-Yamaha) was third on the podium.

Grand Prix of France - More rider comments

Desalle and Musquin win on Saturday in France

A big French crowd already showed up to watch the opening day of the French GP starting with home rider Marvin Musquin’s win in the MX2 qualifying. The result was followed by Belgian Desalle’s maiden qualifying win in the MX1 class with Nagl and Philippaerts rounding up the top three. Cairoli ended seventh ahead of home hero Pichon.

"Rally Dakar" - KTM withdraws!

The limiting of motorcycles with a displacement of 450 cc forces the long term dominator of the Dakar Rally to withdraw. Following the announcement at a press conference on June 4, 2009 of the French "ASO" - the organisers of the "South American Dakar" that from 2010, only motorcycles with a maximum displacement of 450 cc will be permitted to compete.
