Press release Wednesday 06th May 2009 By Pascal Haudiquert

Three years after its last World Championship organization, the track of Ernee will meet again the Motocross stars on June 6th and 7th for the eighth round of the series. The French track will met the MX1 and MX2 classes, but it will be also a great opportunity for reigning World Champion Livia Lancelot to compete at home.

A new era

Four years after the unforgettable Motocross of Nations, Ernee will welcome a major Motocross event with a triple Grand Prix as France will met this year again the Women’s series alongside the traditional MX1 and MX2 classes.

The first GP’s of the season confirmed that Motocross has entered a new era, with many different winners in both classes and an unusual number of fast kids emerging in an exciting MX2 class.

Always popular in the past with huge number of passionate fans, the 09 French round will be once more a highlight in the calendar on a renewed track.

With so many French riders shining every weekend all over the world in the MX2 class, and currently leading the series as well as the Women’s classification thanks to Livia Lancelot, the fans expect to hear at least one ‘Marseillaise’ in Ernee, eight years after the triumph of Mickael Pichon in the 250 GP.

Everts back in Ernee

Since his retirement on this track four years ago Stefan Everts never came back in Ernee, a track rich of memories for the greatest rider in the history of the Motocross World Championships.

First rider to enter a Grand Prix in the three classes during the 2003 edition of the French round, Stefan will remains as the single man who ever won three GP’s the same day ! Now manager of the KTM squad, the legendary Belgian star will discover a renewed track.

‘We didn’t met a GP since 2006, and it was time to make some changes to our track’ explained president Philippe Lecomte when he met some GP riders and the local press several weeks ago to test the layout. With new sections in the lower part of the field, the track will be more spectacular for the fans – who have always a perfect view on the track – and more selective for the riders.

‘The GP riders complained in the past and some of them told us that our track was in some sections too old and not enough selective. We modified the first jump after the start to avoid any trouble, and then we kept the same design but bring numerous novelties with a big and spectacular jump in the lower part, followed by a rhythmic section. We included waves and double lines, and were happy to have great comments from Marvin Musquin and Pascal Leuret when they discovered our job’ he added.
