Swanepoel talks about victory - British Championship

Press release Monday 15th June 2009 By Kawasaki

Kawasaki factory rider Gareth Swanepoel dominated the latest round of the British MX1 Championship, going 1-1 in front of series leader Anderson and defending champion Billy Mackenzie. In Moto one Swanepoel just missed the hole-shot and was second behind Tom Church, however he passed Church on the 2nd corner.

From there Swanepoel was untouchable as he pulled away to take the win. In the second Moto, again Swanepoel just missed out on the hole-shot, but this time it was Brad Anderson who got the advantage.

As per the opening moto, Swanepoel wasted no time in getting to the front of the pack on the opening lap, putting him on the top step of the the podium. Swanepoel took his first overall win in the British MX1 Championship scoring a 1-1 result in Hawkstone Park

Quote Swanepoel: “The bike was awesome, we made a change on the suspension settings last week in testing and it has made the bike way better for me, allowing me to corner much faster. I also felt more relaxed on the bike this weekend, even on this rough circuit I didn’t really get tired. I really look forward to the GP in Germany next week.”
