A new addition to the factory teams in 2024 is Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Calvin Vlaanderen. Over the past three years, Vlaanderen has demonstrated remarkable progress in MXGP, securing the top spot among satellite riders for the past two seasons. With Yamaha's full support, the 27-year-old South African aims to build on his twelve podium finishes and two Grand Prix wins, striving for even greater success.

Since joining the Grand Prix scene back in 2014, a decade ago, Vlaanderen has racked up two Grand Prix victories, one in MX2 and one in MXGP, but his progress is much more than that. After 126 Grand Prix appearances he has a total of 12 podiums in his career, six races wins, three in MX2 and three in MXGP, plus of course a Monster Energy Motocross of Nations victory in 2019 with The Netherlands (scoring 10-10 results). Vlaanderen also rode for The Netherlands in 2018, where they finished second.

His career has looked like this after he finished 12th in MX2 in 2016, he followed that with 13-6-8-16-14-7-6 in championship battle. Below is a very cool gallery from the camera of Bavo Swijgers, the photographer for Yamaha.
