There can be no denying, in 2023, 19-year-old Belgian Liam Everts became his own man and in that development, he also picked up three Grand Prix victories and at one point, was even battling for the World title. Coming into the 2024 season, he must be considered one of the serious contenders for the MX2 World championship.

When I did the all time GP winners list recently, I was a little surprised that Everts has the most  GP wins of the MX2 class and with Jago Geerts, Tom Vialle and other older MX2 riders leaving the class, the three GP wins by Everts puts him equal with another 19-year-old in Simon Langenfelder and 21-year-old Thibault Benistant as the top men for GP victories.

World MX2 champion, something of a veteran in the class now at 23 is Andrea Adamo, he has two GP wins, and the two Husky riders, Kay De Wolf (19) and Lucas Coenen (17) have one each. It seems nearly sure, the title will be fought between these six riders.

I think we are all excited for this years MX2 championship, because while Adamo must be the early favourite as the champion, it will also be exciting to see the improvement in the Belgians, Everts and the Coenen brothers.
