Aaron Plessinger - Sickness Update

Aaron Plessinger had a terrible Redbud last weekend as he was too sick to race the whole weekend. The RedBull KTM factory rider mentioned on his social media what happened.

Plessinger powered his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the sixth-fastest qualifying time. A P6 finish in Moto 1 was another strong performance for ‘The Cowboy’, despite developing a fever that would ultimately end his weekend early.

Together with the team, Plessinger elected to sit out Moto 2 for safety purposes and to prioritize his recovery, currently fifth overall in the point-standings.

“Hey guys, what is going on? It’s your boy AP and first and foremost, I feel like I owe everybody an apology, man. From the fans and to the guys on the team, yeah, they work too hard for this stuff to happen. And yeah, obviously I didn’t make the second moto at RedBud and that sucked. But yeah, everything was going good until it wasn’t. I was doing really good in the first moto, was keeping up with Hunter and Jett and then about 15 or 20 minutes in, my energy levels just went gone.

“I don’t know what happened, I think I’ve been dealing with a little bit of a sickness that I tried to keep telling myself that wasn’t happening and finally caught up to me. I got off after the first moto and really, really just couldn’t recover. I was just sitting there and my body was just kind of empty. I just felt like I was gonna be, you know, in danger to myself and the guys out on the track if I went back out there because I just had nothing. Like I said, I think I’ve been dealing with something that I didn’t want to believe and I think it’s just caught up to me. I don’t know what it is, but we are going to get it figured out and I’m going to be back on the track this weekend in Minnesota.

“Just bare with me, man. Just got to figure it out this week, figure out what I need to do, what steps I need to take to get back to 100% and like I said, we’ll be back out there this weekend trying to get the best position that I can. But until then, I’ll keep you guys updated, keep you guys posted and we’ll figure this out. But overall, sorry to all you guys at Red Bud that wanted to see me race. I wanted to do my best for you guys and just had to play the cards I was dealt. But like I said, going to get figured out this week, going to get it right and we’ll be back up on top for sure. I just wanted to give you guys a little update and we’ll see you guys this weekend at Minnesota.
