Former World MX2 champion, Andrea Adamo has won the opening moto for the MX2 class with a come from behind victory. The Red Bull KTM factory rider made his way past Sasha Coenen in the closing laps to win from Coenen. Second was Coenen and third place Kay De Wolf. Langenfelder, the series leader passed Everts late to finish in fourth place.

Andrea Adamo: Of course, like I said, we don't have much chance, so go out, get a good start and try and win. I am really happy with my moto, consistent laps and we now recharge the batteries for the second race.

Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 729 points, Kay de Wolf 694pts, Andrea Adamo 682pts, Sacha Coenen 585pts, Thibault Benistant 536pts. A 35 points gap between Langenfelder and de Wolf. Like in the MXGP class, it looks like this MX2 championship will go down to the wire in Australia.

MX2 Moto One

Coenen with the holeshot in the opening MX2 moto, and following the Belgian teenager was Everts, Benistant, Adamo, Valin, McLellan, Walvoort, de Wolf, Lata, Farres, Karsmakers. Langenfelder 12th and again struggling under the pressure of a championship. De Wolf into seventh and Langenfelder into 11th spot.

De Wolf a little wild and off the track but not losing a spot. Langenfelder 10th as de Wolf continued to try and get around a very stubborn South African in McLellan. The lead by Coenen was 4.5 seconds after two laps. Lap three and the lead was 6.3 seconds, with Everts still second, then Benistant, Adamo, Valin, De Wolf who passed McLellan, then Farres, Langenfelder in ninth and Walvoort in 10th.

De Wolf all over Benistant and he moved into fifth place, with Adamo in third, and Langenfelder in 8th place. Championship rivals all over the place, and points changing hands. Lap five the top ten was Coenen with an 8.5 second lead over Everts, then Adamo, Valin, De Wolf, Benistant, McLellan, Langenfelder, Farres and Lata in 10th.

Benistant under fire from both McLellan and Langenfelder, with the Triumph man making a pass and Langenfelder also looking good for a pass. Adamo all over Everts for second place and Langenfelder still trying to get past Benistant. Adamo into second place and he makes some ground on the two men ahead of him in the series points, Langenfelder and de Wolf.

The lead by Coenen on lap nine was 11.2 seconds, with the other top ten guys being Adamo, Everts, Valin, de Wolf, McLellan, Langenfelder, Benistant, Farres and Lata. De Wolf all over Valin as Langenfelder moved into sixth position with a nice pass on McLellan.

Adamo closing up on Coenen with six seconds and two laps remaining, and de Wolf a nice move to pass Valin and move into fourth place. These MX2 motos feel like they last forever. Top ten on lap 13 was Coenen with a 3.6 lead over Adamo, then Everts, De Wolf, Valin, Langenfelder, McLellan, Benistant, Farres and Lata.

Adamo all over the back wheel of Coenen with three laps remaining and de Wolf slightly catching Everts in third spot. Langenfelder doing the same with Valin, so the title candidates all fighting for major points. Adamo into the lead and De Wolf all over Everts for third spot.

De Wolf hounding Everts for third place and Coenen seemingly hit the wall a bit, but probably still safe for second place with two laps remaining and seven seconds over Everts and de Wolf. Great racing suddenly as de Wolf all over Everts and Langenfelder all over Valin. De Wolf passed Everts for third spot. Adamo wins from Coenen and De Wolf.
