Another Aussie in USA - SX

Posted on November 18, 2019

While a handful of Australian riders will be racing this years MXGP and MX2 championships in Europe, it seems that more Aussies will be joining the Lawrence brothers, in America. Of course veteran Chad Reed seems likely to line-up at A1, but Australian SX1 championship points-leader Luke Clout is also eyeing some races in USA.

“It’s a little hush-hush at the moment," Clout said. "But there is some stuff in the works. You should see me there in the first six rounds or so, but the details are confidential at the moment. I can’t wait to get over there and I really think that I can do some good things, so I’m excited. I work really hard on and off the bike, but you don’t really know how you’re going to stack up against the American guys because you just watch them on TV and you watch them on Instagram. You see how good they’re riding, so kind of base yourself off that and hope that you can do well."

Cloud who has shown brilliant speed in 2019 for the CDR Yamaha team would be a nice addition to the AMA supercross series. I can't think of a time that so many Australian riders will be racing in USA and America, but it is great news for the sport down under and their chance of getting an Australian Grand Prix in the future.

“I’m confident in my ability, which I think is a big thing because my mental aspect is a lot better now. I’d said to my family at the dinner table, it was my birthday on Tuesday, that if I could get second behind Jason that’d be awesome. You know, he was the only guy that I wanted to beat me. To be leading the championship, I wanted that to happen, but didn’t know if it would.”

So with Chad Reed, Luke Clout, Hunter and Jett Lawrence in US, and Jed Beaton, Mitchell Evans, Wilson Todd, Nathan Crawford and Bailey Malkiewicz all racing in Europe, the Aussies are really running in numbers on the International scene in 2020.
