Anstie Takes Heat One
Star Racing Yamaha rider Max Anstie extended his WSX championship lead with a near perfect opening race win. The British rider who was the 2023 WSX champions in the SX2 class started second and was quickly into the lead and grabbed the 10 points for the race win. Second was Enzo Lopes and third Coty Schock.
Max Anstie: Honestly, its tricky track and slippery. The boys are pushing hard, I need to go back and refocus and go again. I need to hug the inside on the first turn. Enzo is riding great, now two more to go.
The opening SX2 race started with Lopes leading with the holeshot, then came Anstie, Schock, McElrath, Park, Desprey, Thompson, Hicks, Chisholm and Peter. Anstie quickly into the lead entering lap two.
Anstie just putting in nice lap times as McElrath tried to pass Schock, and did so, but Schock put the spot back. McElrath into third with another pass on Schock, but Schock not giving up and regained third.
Anstie just too good on lap seven and the top ten was Anstie, Lopes, Schock, Park, McElrath, Desprey, Thompson, Hicks, Chisholm and Peters. Anstie wins it from Lopes and Schock. It was Anstie seventh win in the 2025 series.
