The world’s top Supercross riders hit the dirt at Marvel Stadium today in preparation for Saturday’s AUSX Open, the thrilling grand finale of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship.

Among the stars on track were Jett and Hunter Lawrence, currently ranked first and second in the world. Saturday races will mark an historic moment for Australian motorsport, as it will be the first time the Lawrence brothers go head-to-head on home soil.

For the Queensland-born siblings, this event is more than just a race—it’s a triumphant homecoming. Nearly a decade ago, the Lawrence family sold their home and everything they owned to chase the dream of competing overseas. Their journey has come full circle, as they return to Australia as global supercross champions, with their father Darren as Team Manager.

Jett Lawrence: “It's awesome to come back. We were both excited on the plane. I could barely sleep so I was so excited. I came back in 2019 and I raced my first professional Supercross race here. (For this) second time back, I get to do it with my brother; it's pretty sick. It's the first time we’ll be racing each other in Australia so it's going to be good. The crowd should like it.”

Hunter Lawrence: “We're excited to put on a show for the Aussie crowd. It's the first time we've both competed together here on Aussie soil since we left. It's going to be unreal and we’re going to put on a heck of a show.”

The AUSX Open is Australia’s largest-ever supercross event, with more than 40,000 fans expected at Marvel Stadium which has been transformed with more than 6,000 tonnes of Aussie red dirt brought in to build a world-class track.

Racing against the Lawrence brothers will be former two-time world Supercross, Champion Cooper Webb. The American is aiming to spoil the Lawrence’s homecoming celebration.

Cooper Webb: “It's great to be back in Aus! It's been eight years since I raced in Sydney, but never been here in Melbourne. I think it's awesome to be here in Aus on a really good track - a really good race with some really good riders. I have a lot of respect for the Lawrence Brothers, we've known each other for a long time, but we race each other hard!”

In addition to being the largest Supercross event in Australia, the AUSX Open serves as the fifth and final round of the thrilling Fox Australian Supercross Championship. With the competition closer than ever, this Saturday guarantees one thing—in 2024, we will witness the crowning of new champions.
